In the summer of 2014, a team of sixteen members from Highland Park traveled to the Dominican Republic in connection with the North Carolina Baptist Men organization to work on the construction of a new children's orphanage complete with medical offices and a training facility. The orphanage is now in operation, and we are truly thankful that the Lord used Highland Park in helping make this dream a reality.
In addition to those who actually made the trip to the Dominican Republic, the entire church body joined in the work as they prayed, gave their financial support, and helped provide suitcases full of items for the children that would come to the orphanage. Many of the ladies in the church got together to sew pillowcase dresses to be handed out to the girls. Over a hundred of these beautiful dresses were made and distributed.
T-shirts were also donated for giving out to the boys, and other items were collected and sent with the team for distribution upon their arrival.
