Two of our young adults, Kailen Hauser and Shawn Dehart, are currently out of the country for nine months while participating in the Gap Year Program in connection with SCORE, International. This program is designed to provide high school graduates age 18-25 the opportunity to become cemented in their faith as they penetrate the mission experience on a deeper level through mentoring, discipleship and community.
Kailen and Shawn (pictured on the right) are serving in two separate countries. Kailen is in Costa Rica, while Shawn is in the Dominican Republic. Kailen assists in coaching a boys' soccer team there in Costa Rica, and when she came home for Christmas, she told us that many of the boys needed new soccer cleats. Highland Park responded by sending Kailen back to Costa Rica with over 40 pairs of cleats!
Shawn was not able to come home for Christmas, and we look forward to seeing both Shawn and Kailen in May, when they return. We are very proud of these two young adults, and their willingness to serve God wherever He sends them is an inspiration to us all!
